Interim Managing Director,
Data Sciences and Access
Patrick Caneer is the Interim Managing Director for CHAMPS Data Sciences and Access team. In this role, he works with colleagues at the Task Force for Global Health’s Public Health Informatics Institute (PHII), and CHAMPS sites, Program Office staff, and development partners to implement CHAMPS’s informatics strategy and solutions for the collection, curation, and sharing of data across network sites and with external audiences.
Caneer has more than 15 years of experience in technology, business process improvement, developing business requirements, and custom software design, implementation, and enhancement. Before joining PHII, he served as the Assistant Director of Clinical Research Business Process and IT Solutions in Emory’s Libraries and Information Technology Services division where he was responsible for the management and strategic direction of the Clinical Research IT Program.
Caneer has served at all levels of the healthcare field, from student-volunteer research assistance and entry-level care provider to operational management and enterprise technology development. Prior to joining Emory, he held technical and operation positions at the Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner Research Institute Division of Biomedical Engineering, and has worked as an independent strategic technology and operations consultant in health care, marketing, and sales. His professional interests focus on how informatics and data engineering principles can be used to develop new insights and innovative solutions for public health problems.
Caneer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management from the University of Alabama. He is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Applied Public Health Informatics at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health.
