We at CHAMPS mourn the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Dr. Sherif Zaki.

Revered for the depth and breadth of his accomplishments as a pathologist and mentor to his colleagues at U.S. CDC, Sherif was once described as a national treasure, a label with which we wholeheartedly agree.

Sherif’s contributions to CHAMPS were immense. We will miss his knowledge, talent, curiosity and, of course, his friendship.
