Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, and Enterobacter cloacae are linked to most hospital-acquired infections globally. However, there are still gaps in understanding their resistance to antibiotics.

To address this, CHAMPS conducted a study in Sierra Leone to describe the antimicrobial susceptibility of these bacteria isolated from postmortem blood samples of stillbirths and children under five. The study, conducted between March 2019 and February 2022, used advanced identification and antibiotic sensitivity testing methods to provide crucial insights for antimicrobial stewardship.
