Global Partners Board Meeting Brings Together Global Health Leaders to Offer Expertise and Support for CHAMPS
Johannesburg, South Africa, December 2017
Members of the CHAMPS’ Global Partners Board (GPB), an advisory board of international leaders in the prevention of child mortality and mortality surveillance, act as champions of child mortality prevention within their networks and organizations. Their participation in the board enables them to help ensure that CHAMPS contributes to global efforts to drastically and quickly reduce child mortality around the world.
The 2017 Global Partners Board Annual Meeting took place December 7-8, 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Some of the key topics covered during this year’s meeting include discussion of noteworthy findings and lessons learned from Minimally Invasive Tissue Sampling (MITS) collections, identification of strategies from disseminating CHAMPS data to key stakeholders to drive public health action, and providing input into our long-term vision to strengthen and sustain the CHAMPS Network.
“I’m trying to change the world along with the people on the CHAMPS board, and we are strongly motivated to take advantage of an opportunity like CHAMPS. These are visionary public health leaders who see the opportunity for investing in something that can change health systems and can lead to better health decisions, which can lead to better population health. That is an exciting opportunity.”
Alan Lopez, Laureate Professor of Global Health at the University of Melbourne, Global Partners Board Member
