Dr. Portia Mutevedzi

Director, Impact and Engagement Unit

Dr. Portia Mutevedzi (MSc; PhD) is Unit Director for Impact & Engagement at the CHAMPS Program Office, at The Task Force for Global Health in the US. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology and Population Health from the University of London in the United Kingdom. She has over 20 years of experience in conducting epidemiological studies and leading surveillance systems at the national and international levels. Currently, she is involved in maternal and child health studies, where she supports the translation of CHAMPS data into policy guidance and directs interventions to improve maternal and child health.

Dr. Mutevedzi has been involved in several international expert committees, including the WHO expert committee on the development of public health emergency operations centers, the WHO-International Health Regulations (IHR), and the Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA). She was a board member for Safe In Pregnancy, an international committee focused on enhancing the linkage between active safety surveillance of novel interventions in pregnancy and existing routine maternal, neonatal, and child health data collection systems. She is currently a member of the Africa CDC expert panel for the continent's public health intelligence report. She has led multiple research grants and co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
