Haleluya Leulseged is a Medical Epidemiologist leading network-level epidemiologic analyses of multi-country CHAMPS datasets, integrating clinical, laboratory, demographic, and pregnancy surveillance data, and supporting data quality assurance, cross-site harmonization, and the translation of findings into actionable public health recommendations.
He joined CHAMPS Ethiopia more than 6 years ago, where he oversaw site-level surveillance activities, including Minimally Invasive Tissue Sampling (MITS) for cause-of-death determination. He developed study protocols and standard operating procedures and led efforts to expand CHAMPS surveillance to additional university sites in Ethiopia. He has also led the Hararghe Health Research Data Science Interest Group and chaired journal club sessions.
Beyond CHAMPS, Dr. Leulseged is engaged in the multi-country EChiLiBRiST clinical trial conducted across three African countries. A physician-epidemiologist by training, he holds an MD and an MPH in Epidemiology (Distinction) from Haramaya University, as well as an MSc in Clinical Trials (Merit) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where he is currently pursuing his PhD.
