Dr. Roosecelis (Roose) Brasil Martines is a senior anatomic pathologist with over 25 years of experience in the field of infectious diseases, including 10 years as a Medical Officer and team lead of the Core Pathology Laboratories at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). 

An expert in histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and electron microscopy, Dr. Martines led multidisciplinary efforts to investigate and respond to emerging infectious threats, including Ebola virus, SARS-CoV-2, and Zika virus. She has also published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, focusing her scientific contributions on utilizing immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy for the detection of viral antigens and the analysis of ultrastructure. Her research has shed light on the tissue tropism, pathogenesis, and diagnostic challenges associated with a range of emerging pathogens. An experienced educator and mentor, Dr. Martines has trained medical and public health professionals, combining hands-on pathology expertise with cutting-edge research insights, including minimal-invasive tissue sampling (MITS) and digital pathology.
